Fiberglass & gelcoat application

Dull or chalky gelcoat? Match the polishing method to the oxidation level.

Koenig can be used by hand for routine marine maintenance and light oxidation. Heavier oxidation or weathered fiberglass may respond better to an appropriate buffer or polisher.

Choose the correction level

Start with the least aggressive method that works.

01

Wash or rinse first

Remove salt, sand, loose grime and other abrasive contamination before polishing fiberglass or gelcoat.

02

Test by hand

Apply Koenig to a manageable section with a clean towel and evaluate improvement in gloss and surface condition.

03

Use a buffer when needed

For heavier oxidation, dull fiberglass or chalky gelcoat, use Koenig with an appropriate polishing pad/buffer after a small test area confirms the process.

04

Buff and maintain

Finish with a clean microfiber towel. Once the surface is corrected, periodic maintenance should require less aggressive work.

What to expect

Light oxidation and severe oxidation are not the same job.

Good condition

Routine hand application can clean, improve gloss and leave a protective finish on compatible fiberglass and gelcoat.

Moderate oxidation

Machine polishing can increase correction and consistency on larger weathered areas.

Severe oxidation

Deeply weathered or damaged gelcoat may require a more involved restoration process before final polishing and protection.
