Boat glass application

Water spots and cloudy mineral film: identify the window material before you polish.

Boat “glass” may actually be tempered glass, acrylic, polycarbonate, Lexan, isinglass or clear vinyl. The correct Koenig technique depends on the material, so identification comes before correction.

Rinse → dry → apply → work → buff → reassess.

01

Work cool and rinse

Move out of intense heat when practical, then rinse away salt, sand and loose grit before touching the window with a towel.

02

Dry and inspect

Use a clean soft microfiber towel and determine whether the remaining marks appear to be surface water spots, mineral deposits or possible etching.

03

Apply Koenig in sections

Shake the product and apply a controlled amount to the surface or a clean microfiber towel. Work a small area at a time.

04

Buff and reassess

Use gentle to moderate pressure, then a separate clean microfiber towel for the final buff. Repeat only when the surface is responding normally.

Clear-material caution

Do not treat acrylic, polycarbonate, isinglass or clear vinyl like standard glass.

Softer clear materials

Rinse first, use only clean soft towels, keep pressure light, test a small area and stop if hazing or distortion appears.

Permanent etching

If repeated proper cleaning does not improve a smooth-looking mark, the damage may be etching or physical surface damage rather than removable residue.
