Aircraft restoration application

Oxidation, water stains, surface rust marks and scuffs need more than a quick wipe.

Start by hand to determine what is removable. Koenig’s aircraft guidance also supports foam-pad machine application for oxidation and surface imperfections on compatible finishes when more correction is needed.

Start by hand

Identify how much correction the surface actually needs.

01

Clean and inspect

Remove loose dirt, then identify whether you are looking at removable staining, light oxidation, a scuff, corrosion, coating failure or deeper damage.

02

Test Koenig by hand

Apply a controlled amount to a small test area and work it with a clean towel before deciding that machine correction is necessary.

03

Escalate only if appropriate

For compatible paint or metal with oxidation or imperfections, use Koenig with an appropriate foam polishing pad/buffer when the finish and manufacturer guidance permit it.

04

Final hand buff

Remove remaining residue with a clean microfiber towel and compare the corrected section with the surrounding surface.

Correction limits

A polish is not a structural corrosion repair.

Light oxidation

Hand application may be sufficient for maintained paint or metal with light weathering.

Heavier oxidation

A foam pad or buffer can increase polishing action on compatible finishes, but test first and work conservatively.

Corrosion or coating failure

Pitting, active corrosion, failed coatings or damaged substrates need appropriate maintenance or repair—not simply more polishing.
